Faced the problem of hair loss? Bald patches and thinning hair? Seborrhea and hair fragility? Hair was and will be one of the main thing that makes men and women attractive. And when it comes to all these terrible things it is very easy to get into despair (especially for women).

But you shouldn’t lose hope as there is a large number of natural hair loss treatments. This time I’ll write about whey, or buttermilk.

Whey to prevent hair lossWhey is an excellent natural product to regrow your lost hair and make it strong and shining. Whey or milk plasma is the liquid remaining after milk has been curdled and strained. It is a by-product of the manufacture of cheese or casein. It has been known for a long time, that external use of whey stimulates exchange processes in roots of hair and hair follicles. In ancient times Muslim women washed their hair with whey, and it helped them to keep force, shine and beauty of their hair.

Nowadays the whey protein is often sold as a nutritional supplement. Such supplements are especially popular in the sport of bodybuilding. Liquid whey contains lactose, vitamins, and minerals along with traces of fat. Whey is very effective in preventing of hair loss, strengthening of hair and making it grow faster and healthier. Why shouldn’t we take the advantage of it?

You can simply wash your hair with this natural dairy product and rinse it with decoction afterwards. Also you can make nutritious masks on the basis of whey. For example, you can add a yolk, a little honey and cognac in warm whey and mix it. Then put it on the clean scalp and wrap it up with a towel. Keep it for 20-30 minutes and then wash it off with warm water.

The Most Effective Natural Hair Loss Treatment

  1. Hey I recently read in a book about using natural butter on your head and massaging your scalp, so I bumpep in to a product called Africah shea butter” it is supposedly a 100 percent natural and it is used for skin and can be used on the calp for dry scalp and making hair more shiny and lusterous, i read that it helps stimulate hair growth and doesn’t clog pores or hair shaft. I red in tibertian health book how natural unsalted butter when put on the scalp and some massaging helps hair growth. has anyone heard of this?

  2. Thank you for your comment and a nice piece of information about another natural hair loss product.

Yes, really African shea butter have a great moisturizing effect for the skin and scalp. It absorbs rapidly and easily into the head-skin and maintain moisture in dry and brittle hair. It also revitalizes weak hair, repair damaged hair and prevent it from breakage.

So, you see this natural hair loss treatment helps to improve hair that you already have on your head and make it look better. As for hair regrowing effect, African shea butter is the subject for further investigations and observations, I believe.

It would be nice if you share your knowledge and throw more light about shea butter as a natural hair loss treatment.

  15. I had gastric bypass 3 years ago & have been taking whey since then. I HAVE lost a lot of hair over the last 2 years & it has NOT grown back in.

Are you saying that washing my hair with liquid whey can HELP my hair grow back in?

Is there that big a difference between consuming whey & washing your hair with it?

  18. Men lose hair because of DHT and other factors not yet fully understood. The only proven methods for men to regrow hair are Minoxidil and Propecia. I wouldn’t hold much hope on Whey being able to regrow hair lost due to genetic balding.

  27. Yes, we can. Just take sour milk and put it on the buttercloth. Whey is what leaks down. Tender curd is what remains.

  28. hi i am 22 male and i m losing my hair excessively, all over my head but my forehead the most, i also massage my hairs with almond and mustard oil quite often, but i cant really see any difference, well in this young i dont see any reason why i am losing so much hairs,i study i have tensions but not a kind of losing my hairs, can u give me some advice what should i do ? and the hairs that i have lost on my forehead can they grow back ? and massaging hairs with excessive oil,is it good or just little is enough , thank you

    cris said on June 4, 2010 #

  29. cris,

It is difficult to give any advice if you don’t exactly know why you are losing your hair. If you have male pattern baldness, what is most likely, scalp massage and oil masks won’t be of real help. In this case you’d better seriously consider blocking you DHT levels. The action of practically all hair loss treatments that you can find in our review section are based upon this. Since 22 is a very early age to have hair follicles totally dead, it is very safe to say that hair regrowth is possible. But only when DHT is inhibited.

  30. thank you so much for ur time,,yes i have male pattern baldness that is only at front well i really dont what might b the reason,1 i can say is may be geneticaly, but my father hairs at age 22 was cool i mean i have lot pictures,2nd reason which i think that might b, that i lose sperm very often,is there any direct connection between these two ? and what exactly is DHT and how can i block that ? is there any natural food or fruits that you can recommend me,just stop my hairs fall or some kind of protein ? ,, thank you

    cris said on June 4, 2010 #

  31. dht is dihydrotestosterone, a human androgen that is the main cause of male pattern baldness. it is found in defferent parts of the body including the scalp and it makes hair follicles shrink (that’s why hair thinning precedes hair loss) and eventually close forever and hair can’t grow. there is no scientific ground under the assumption that excessive loss of sperm affects hair loss. on the other hand it is well known that dht blockers (such as propecia) decrease sperm count. the most famous natural dht blocker is saw palmetto.

  32. it means, the bald area will never grow back the hairs,no matter what u do, or is there any hope, that hairs can grow in that part of head where its bald and follicles are close. , and even on this webstite i have read lots of articles about natural ways to grow hair back, like potato massage or banana massage, can those kind of massage make difference? thanks

    cris said on June 11, 2010 #

  33. hair follicles can be close and sleeping (it’s called telogen, if i’m not mistaken). But it doesn’t mean that they are dead. i apply different masks like potato and whey and I can say that they can wake up your hair. it’s my experience.

  37. hey, to make whey at home, just heat a gallon of milk up on the stove till it reaches 180 degrees, then add 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar and stir. you will immediately see curds and whey. strain out the curds through a cotten cloth and u will have alot of pure whey. (and some nice cheese to use in lasagna;)
i do it all the time.

  47. Surely it would be better to eat or drink whey protein rather than apply it directly to the scalp it is very nutritious. Whey a byproduct of milk leftover following the making of butter and potable.I believe a good healthy diet is essential for hair growth, Is the whey spoken of edible than.If there is a medical/medication reason for the hair loss I am sure it will regrow if that problem is addressed. I am sure there is no cure at present for hair loss otherwise, why would anyone wear a wig if it was not for otherwise for fun! The person / organisation who eventually finds the cure will be so wealthy a multi multi millionaire, I wish that person was me.
