User Satisfaction. According to the online consumer poll more than 80% of users have been satisfied with the results that they achieved with the product. The manufacturer claims that 99% of Propecia users achieved visible results (no further hair loss and visible hair regrowth) after 2 years of treatment.
Whom Intended for? Propecia is intended to treat male pattern baldness in men only and is not indicated for use by women or children.
When to Expect Results? Although some Propecia users have noticed good results already after 3 months of treatment, most men need at least 6 months before seeing any visible results. The manufacturer says that it’s important to take Propecia for at least 12 months to see how good it is for you.
Main Ingredients. The main ingredient of Propecia is finasteride, a synthetic antiandrogen that inhibits type II 5-alpha reductase, thus reducing conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone. Finasteride has shown to be very effective in treatment of androgenetic alopecia. It is also used to treat prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia.
How to Take? Propecia pills are taken orally once a day with a small amount of water. Depending on severety of your hair loss (mild, moderate or heavy) the two options of 1 and 5mg pills are available. You are strongly advised to talk with your doctor about whether Propecia is right for you and discuss the daily dosage.
Precautions. Propecia is approved by US Food and Drug Administration and has regular precautions as with every finasteride-containing medications. As far as finasteride is metabolized extensively in the liver, Propecia should be taken with caution by patients suffering from liver diseases. Propecia pills are film-coated what prevents contact with the active ingredients during normal handling. Because of the possible risk to a male fetus, women should never handle crushed or broken Propecia pills during pregnancy. Propecia has shown no interactions of clinical importance with other drugs.
Any Side Effects? Side effects are uncommon and don’t affect most men. A small number of men may experience some sexual side effects, including reduced libido and/or a decreased amount of semen. In clinical studies these side effects occurred in less than 2% of men and went away immediately upon discontinuation of treatment.
Package Options and Price. There are several package options of Propecia. You can order from 30 up to 360 pills in a package (1 or 5mg pills). 360-pill package has the lowest price per pill.
